Home / Fence installation

Fence installation & replacement in Wichita.

Enclose a yard, add privacy or replace an aging fence. Call or send a quote request for the work you need.

A new fence

If the area is not already fenced, describe the boundary you want, the privacy you need and how you will move through the space. Let the installer confirm the layout, measurements and installation approach.

  • Which sides need fencing, and which are already enclosed?
  • Where should gates go, and what needs to fit through them?
  • Are there slopes, trees, retaining walls or access constraints?
  • Who will confirm the property boundary and applicable requirements?

Replacing an existing fence

A replacement estimate has extra decisions. Do not assume the existing line, posts or height can simply be reused. Ask what will be removed, what may remain, and what would change the price after work begins.

  • Removal and haul-away: panels, posts, concrete and debris.
  • Post reuse: whether it is proposed and how suitability will be checked.
  • Gates and access: changes to openings, hardware or swing direction.
  • Temporary opening: how an unfenced yard will be managed during the work.
  • Restoration: what cleanup, soil work or landscaping is included.

A repair may be enough

If the problem is limited to a gate, a few boards or a short section, ask for a repair assessment as well. A damaged section does not by itself establish that the entire fence needs replacement. Have an installer assess the condition before choosing the scope.

Wichita fence requirements and site details

Start with Wichita’s official fence guidance. For questions about your proposed work, contact MABCD or the relevant authority for your property. Requirements can depend on the location and proposed fence.

County plats can help gather background information; an online map is not a precise boundary determination. Discuss uncertain boundaries with a qualified surveyor.

Confirm with the contractor who will arrange utility locates. Read Kansas 811’s homeowner guidance and mention private lines such as irrigation or power to an outbuilding. Do not assume every private line is included.
